Alberta Funds Public Schools Privacy Policy
SECTION 1 - WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION?
When you contact or create an account with Alberta Funds Public Schools, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address, email address and phone contact information.
With your permission, Alberta Funds Public Schools may prompt an email to be sent to you through an email account on the Alberta Funds Public Schools domain created exclusively for the purposes of engaging in the activities of the Alberta Funds Public Schools Citizen Initiative.
SECTION 2 - DATA MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
Alberta Funds Public Schools is the custodian of your personal information, and WindyJMusic is our Privacy Manager. The management of your personal information is governed first by relevant legislation including Canada's Personal Information and Protection of Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Although not a public body, Alberta Funds Public Schools also endeavours to comply with the minimum expectations of Alberta's two new public body privacy laws, the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA). Additionally your personal information is subject to WindyJMusic's Privacy Policy, and finally to this Privacy Policy.
SECTION 3 - CONSENT
When you provide us with personal information to use Alberta Funds Public Schools, you provide express consent to our collecting it and using it for the reasons listed below only in accordance with the aforementioned federal, provincial and local privacy and electronic communications legislation. You withdraw your consent by using our Volunteer Accounts feature.
Data collected includes your name, contact information including telephone and email contacts and your physical and mailing addresses as required by Elections Alberta for Canvassers, as well as other tools to authenticate your access to your account, such as Google Authorization Tokens and email addresses (and no other Google-related data), passwords or Time-Based One-Time Passcodes (TOTP). We may also record data specific to the Alberta Funds Public Schools Citizen Initiative, such as Canvasser Identification Numbers. This data is subject to the Disclosure terms of this Privacy Policy.
SECTION 4 - DISCLOSURE
Your data is not ours to disclose, Alberta Funds Public Schools is the merely custodian of the data. We may only disclose your personal information if we are required by law.
Your data is stored on Canada-based servers, and at no time is your information disclosed, exported or otherwise distributed to any third-party application, software or organization. This data is stored on a secure server behind multiple redundant firewalls using a proprietary encoding system. We also do not store any of your data in temporary storage mechanisms such as browser cookies, and only use cookies to authenticate your access using time-based access keys that protect your personal information.
At no time does Alberta Funds Public Schools collect your credit card data, personal financial details, or login credentials to third-party payment solutions. Alberta Funds Public Schools collects only the data required to mark a donation as submitted and collected. Alberta Funds Public Schools relies on the third-party Stripe to process those transactions, and will never collect your personal financial data nor your login credentials to such a third-party.
All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
At no time is your data distributed to any third-party source by Alberta Funds Public Schools, and we also make every effort to prevent any of your data from being transmitted outside of Canada, therefore preventing your data from being subject to the Patriot Act of the United States of America or any other legislation from any other country that would enable legal interception of your personal data.
SECTION 5 - SECURITY
To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.
Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow and exceed requirements as outlined by various federal and provincial legislations, including the Privacy of Information and Protection of Electronic Documents Act, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, and Alberta's the Personal Information Protection, Protection of Privacy and Access to Information Acts.
SECTION 6 - WARRANTIES
By using this site you warrant that any and all information provided is a true and accurate representation of you as the real human using Alberta Funds Public Schools.
Any intentional misrepresentation or inaccuracy in your account may result in the suspension of your account.
SECTION 8 - CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by way of updating the “last updated” that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it. Wherever a link is available to this policy, the “last updated” date will change.
